The EuroDOCSIS (European Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) standard defines interface specifications for Cable Modems and Cable Modem Termination Systems involved in high-speed data communication over Hybrid Fibre Coax (HFC) networks. Since 2000 Excentis offers a certification program on behalf of the European cable industry. The certification program verifies that a submitted product complies with the specification and is interoperable with other certified/qualified products. Since 2014 Excentis offers the EuroDOCSIS certification testing under the CableLabs umbrella.
EuroDOCSIS 1.0 is the base specification offering best-effort data communication. EuroDOCSIS 1.1 adds service flows that enable quality of service, together with more enhanced security based on digital certificates. EuroDOCSIS 2.0 offers increased upstream throughput using advanced modulation techniques (A-TDMA and S-CDMA). EuroDOCSIS 3.0 introduces IPv6, enhanced security and channel bonding in the up- and downstream allowing much higher bandwidths. EuroDOCSIS 3.1 adds a new physical layer based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and different forward error correction (low density parity check, LDPC).
