Successful R-PHY and DOCSIS 3.1 Interop

In the week of May 14 Excentis hosted a successful R-PHY and DOCSIS 3.1 Interop. Chip and equipment vendors took this unique opportunity to test and refine the capabilities of their equipment in the test labs of Excentis in Ghent.

Participating vendor companies were ADVA Optical Networking, ARRIS, AVM, Broadcom, Casa Systems, Cisco, Compal Broadband Networks, Huawei Technologies, Intel, Meinberg Funkuhren, Microsemi, Sagemcom, Technicolor, Teleste Corporation, Ubee Interactive and VECTOR Technologies. To help making this event a success, Excentis not only added its technical expertise but also its XRA (the realtime DOCSIS 3.1 protocol analyzer), as well as the ByteBlower traffic generator/analyzer.

“Excentis has the expertise and a fully equipped test lab with dedicated test equipment to support such interoperability testing. Moreover, as neutral partner for the cable operator’s industry, Excentis is well positioned to bring competitors together for a successful interoperability event”, says Wim De Ketelaere, CTO of Excentis.

On Thursday May 17, Excentis also organized a well attended operator day, with near 50 representatives of 13 different European cable operators. This operator day started with private operator presentations and a discussion panel (topics discussed were Remote PHY, Remote MAC-PHY and PNM). In the afternoon there were vendor demonstrations and a networking reception.

Excentis is an impressive team of expert engineers, testers, developers and trainers with decades of field experience, a passion for optimization and natural aversion to latency.
