Network Performance Testing
From homes and offices through to production plants: everyone is looking at network service providers and equipment manufacturers to ensure outstanding network performance for work and play. Yet, what is ‘outstanding’ network performance’ all about? More than speed and bandwidth, it is also about latency. Make sure to measure, diagnose and optimize every single aspect, to deliver the quality of service that everyone expects.
Performance Testing: Challenges
Network performance is a complex interplay of many distinct factors: from bandwidth and scale (number of devices, hosts, users, and applications) through to topology. What is more, it easily varies over time.
So, to effectively measure, monitor, diagnose and optimize network performance you need deep-rooted expertise and state-of-the-art measurement tools that tick the following boxes:
✔ Historical data and tools are necessary to be able to analyze your network over time, compare its behavior in the past and present and perform successful root-cause analysis.
✔ Reproducible: To measure progress, make sure your tools and environment support reproducible tests, and can control and monitor the input (traffic generator) and output, plus all the devices in-between if needed (monitoring + traffic generator/analyzer).
✔ Accurate and powerful: Use synchronized measurement tools to monitor one-way latency on large setups, with many ports and at different speeds. And ensure your tools are up to supporting the skyrocketing speed enabled by new technologies like GPON, NBASE-T, 5G, 10G DOCSIS, etc.
✔ End-to-end: Include all components that can impact performance. For Wi-Fi and mobile (4G/5G ), for example, the end devices are key.
✔ Relevant: Use relevant scenarios such as IPv4 or IPv6 with or without network translation.
✔ Large-scale: As your network performance will vary according to the number of devices, hosts, users, and applications, you will need a set-up that can scale to large networks.
Network Performance Testing with Excentis
Network and device testing has been our core business, at Excentis, ever since our foundation. As well as the experience and the expertise, we also have the measurement tools that tick all the above boxes. Here is how we can help:
Reproducible, accurate testing with ByteBlower® and ByteBlower WEP
Our ByteBlower traffic generator/analyzer and ByteBlower Endpoint, as its mobile extension, were designed to monitor and measure the performance of wired and Wi-Fi networks and products, respectively. Exceptionally intuitive, accurate and powerful, these help you to cover every blind spot and ensure truly outstanding network performance.
Lab or test as a service, in our state-of-the-art labs
The doors of our state-of-the-art test lab are open for you to perform testing with the most advanced equipment, under the best possible circumstances. Or you can leave the testing to us.
Realistic testing in our dedicated Wi-Fi house
To run reliable Wi-Fi tests and measurements, you need numerous different configurations, realistic setups, and real-life devices. Enter our Wi-Fi house: a fully-equipped test and measurement machine to conduct representative, reproducible Wi-Fi tests, resulting in trustworthy recommendations.
Excentis is an expert team of network, hardware and software engineers, testers and trainers, with decades of lab and field experience, a passion for optimization, automation and natural aversion to latency. How can we help?
Bouygues Wi-Fi 6E gateway and CPE device testing with ByteBlower
Bouygues Telecom selected ByteBlower to test its Bbox portfolio of CPE devices and validate their performance and continuously validate new functionality on their existing Bbox solutions and test completely new CPEs, like the latest Bbox ultym that supports Wi-Fi 6E.Explore this case
Lowering latency in the PŸUR DOCSIS network
How we helped PŸUR to reduce latency dramatically and increase the user experience of their customers as confirmed by last year’s "connect" test rankings!Explore this case
LTE Interference Testing
It's already well-known that LTE deployments have an impact on the quality of the services that are offered by cable operators to their customers. Signals of LTE handsets can easily get picked up by TV sets, set top boxes, or even by coaxial cabling.Explore this case
Home Gateway Testing
Cable operators are deploying advanced home gateways instead of simple cable modems. New advanced services, the transition to IPv6 and the ever increasing number of connected devices push such gateways to support a multitude of services and devices — fundamentally increasing development time and deployment complexity.Explore this case

What Our Customers Say About Our Service
Optimized parameters not only resulted in a boost in overall performance, PŸUR even scored a whopping 100% in Download and Upload Data Tests.
No new investment was needed to test Wi-Fi 6E, ByteBlower wireless endpoints are compatible with new devices out-of-the-box. Wi-Fi 7 will be no different!
The Excentis training course exceeded our high expectations. In depth yet accessible to a broad audience. Technical topics but never boring!
Thank you for your excellent work. We found the report very interesting and were happy to see the quality of choices quantified and objectively confirmed.
With support of the Excentis engineering team, we constructed an initial setup and successfully performed a first trial run in less than an hour!
With professional guidance and willing to adapt to our specific needs, we could test the device in a way that makes most sense to our customers. We highly recommend them for your business.
