Introduction to Data Communication Systems

OVERVIEW

The course gives an introduction to the principles of data communication systems. The aspects of the different components will be covered. It starts from the general basic concepts such as sampling, bits and symbols but goes as far as complex error detection and correction techniques. A/D and D/A conversions and digital processing in the transmitter respectively receivers are discussed. The transmission channel is described for different access networks.
Important to communication systems is the performance evaluation. Several quantities describing the performance are compared. The impact of noise is also treated in the course and software cancellation techniques are introduced.
Related to interference tackling techniques, error correction/detection and interleaving are explained
