The certification process for Cable Europe Labs is organised in certification waves. Each certification wave consists of the following steps:

  1. Interop
In an Interop (1 week), equipment manufacturers are invited to Excentis to verify the interoperability of their products with other products.
  2. ATP run
In an ATP run (1 week), Excentis offers the opportunity to vendors to have selected acceptance tests executed by Excentis similar to those executed during product certification.
  3. Certification testing
After official submission, Excentis checks the conformance of the product against the specifications (5 or 7 weeks of testing). The certification test period is closed for the product suppliers.
  4. Vendor meeting
When all testing has finished, a Euro-DOCSIS/Euro-PacketCable meeting is held, open for all vendors who have signed the Euro-DOCSIS/Euro-PacketCable NDA.
  5. Certification Board meeting
Following the Euro-DOCSIS/Euro-PacketCable vendor meeting is a closed Cable Europe Labs (www.cableeurope.eu/index.php?page=technology) Certification Board meeting. The Cable Europe Labs Certification Board decides, based on the Excentis test results, on the certification/qualification of the submitted product.
  6. Feedback
After the Cable Europe Labs Certification Board meeting, a wrap-up of the results is organized by means of a conference call and follow-up e-mail conversations by Excentis.
